Darwin Esplanade building heights, volumetrics and urban design

In July 2015 the NT Planning Scheme was amended to remove the application of building height limits to the majority of Central Darwin. Height limits on The Esplanade and the south-western side of Mitchell Street were retained subject to an investigation of options for improving building design on The Esplanade.

A review will consider a range of issues, including building setbacks, view corridors, pedestrian amenity, weather protection, building activation and building height, to set the principles that will guide good building design on The Esplanade. We are still developing our work program for this project, and will provide updates as it progresses. Contact us to have your say.
