What happens after a hearing
After a hearing, the Commission considers the information presented together with other relevant material before preparing a report for the Minister.
Commission Report
The Commission prepares a report for the Minister. The report may summarise the key issues raised, identify relevant planning considerations and include the Commission's advice and recommendations.
Written submissions are attached to the Commission's report and provided to the Minister in their entirety.
Minister’s role
The Minister for Lands, Planning and Environment makes the final decision on the proposal.
In making that decision, the Minister considers the Commission's report as well as other relevant information and matters required under the Planning Act 1999.
Notification of decision
People who made submissions are advised when a decision has been made. The notification will usually be sent by email.
The timing of notification may vary depending on the proposal being considered.
Publication of outcomes
The Commission's report to the Minister after a hearing will only be published if the Minister requests the Commission to release that report.
Information about the Minister's decision, including the reasons for the decision, is made publicly available on NT.GOV.AU.
